File not Found 'c:windows\system32\ieframe.dll\1'

A Relatively Simple Fix

Product Affected

Microsoft Visual Basic V6.0 part of the Microsoft Visual Studio 6 product.

Description

This error can arise when the Project Component 'Microsoft Internet Controls' is selected, or when a project containing this component is opened.

Selecting 'Microsoft Internet Controls'

Selecting 'OK' from the above screen produces an error message 'file not found 'c:\windows\system32\ieframe.dll\1' and the component is not loaded.

The Windows Registry

Start the Windows Registry Editor, I will not explain how to do this as, if an explanation is needed, you should not tinker with the registry.

Search for the term 'ieframe.dll\1' and if you find it, modify the 'value data' to remove the '\1' from the entry.

Hey Presto! the component can be selected and no error.

Don't try to search for the term 'ieframe.dll', as I did, there are dozens and dozens of them
