JavaScript - Cookies and JavaScript Security

In a Nutshell - CIW Course Section 2, Part A2, Chapter 3

Controlling Cookies: Netscape Navigator 7.1

From the "Edit" menu, select "Preferences" to display the Preferences dialog box:

Netscape Navigator Preferences

As you will see, Navigator has a number of settings for controlling cookies, but not, as far as I can see, a method of selecting sites which you will permit to use cookies.

Controlling Cookies: Internet Explorer 6.0

Click "Tools" and select "Internet Options..." to display the Internet Options dialog. Click the "Privacy" tab and then click the "Sites" button. This will display the dialog shown below:

Internet Explorer Site Privacy Actions

The "Per Site Privacy Actions" dialog allows you to add specific sites to allow or block cookies from. This is useful, but the settings here do not override the general settings.

JavaScript Security Issues

Malicious or Erroneous JavaScript code can cause, if not damage, problems with your browser. If you believe this is the case with your machine, JavaScript can be disabled in both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer. Doing this may, of course, limit the functionality of many Web sites.
