Web Page Authoring Fundamentals
In a Nutshell - CIW Course Section 1, Part B
Now, with this section, you will have the chance to start producing web pages, or at least, parts of web pages. The course recommends using Notepad or some other text editor for this purpose. This is, without a doubt, the best way to learn HTML. However, I have already tinkered with it, so I chose the easier, in my opinion, route and used Microsoft's FrontPage. I think FrontPage is perfectly acceptable for this purpose, provided you are using it as the code editor and not as the web page layout generator.
Chapter Headings
As I have done with the other sections, the navigation links, to the left, are somewhat abbreviated so I have included the full chapter titles here:
- Chapter 1 - Introduction to Web Page Authoring
- Chapter 2 - Creating HTML Pages
- Chapter 3 - Incorporating Horizontal Rules and Graphical Elements
- Chapter 4 - Hyperlinks
- Chapter 5 - Creating HTML Tables
- Chapter 6 - Creating HTML Forms
- Chapter 7 - Frames
- Chapter 8 - Graphical User Interface HTML Editors
- Chapter 9 - HTML Extensions
There are some useful appendices at the end of this section, which are well worth a look at. I managed to overlook them entirely, until I started putting this site together.
To my mind, this was the first hands-on part of the course, and while it is not necessary to write code to complete this section, I would strongly advise that you do.
