Web Navigation Concepts
In a Nutshell - CIW Course Section 4, Part A2
This starts by differentiating between backbone services and mission-critical services, then goes on to discuss server system elements and bus types. It then considers the popular operating systems: Microsoft Windows family, Novell Netware and Unix. The installation of these systems is mentioned but in a very brief fashion. The TCP/IP configuration covers Windows 2000 and Linux, and is reasonably detailed.
DNS is covered in some detail, but more on the theory than the practise. Not surprisingly perhaps, quite a large chunk of this section is devoted to Web Servers. Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS) is covered in great detail and Apache gets reasonable coverage too.
